The Convention of 2008

Since 2001, more than 400 young people from more than 30 different countries have come together at the Convention of Young European Citizens in Cluny which is also labeled as a European Summer University by the French Ministry of Education.

This year’s working objective focuses on a dimension which is important for every one of us, as individuals or belonging to a group: our identities. How do we identify with our roots? Is Europe part of our heritage? Does history shape us? How does it go about? Which history? Does identity contribute to mutual understanding with our neighbours or on the contrary, does it separate “us” from “others”?
